Ever since Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce mentioned his attempt to give Taylor Swift his number at an Eras Tour concert this summer, rumors have flown about a potential romance between Kelce and the pop star. Although the football player confirmed that he didn't get the chance to meet Swift at the show, the internet has still run ablaze with rumors of the possible romance, and it is bringing speculation from sports and music fans alike.
It all started on an episode of New Heights, Kelce's podcast with his brother and Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce. In the podcast, Kelce explains that he made a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it, which he intended to give to Swift. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to speak with her after the show.
"I was disappointed that she doesn't talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings," he told Jason, according to CNN. "So, I was a little bit hurt I didn't get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her."
The theories ramped up again last week when The Messenger published a story that featured a source that claimed Swift and Kelce have been "quietly hanging out."
With talk of Kelce and Swift increasing in the public eye, sports reporters have attempted to get information on the possible pairing from Kelce, himself. In August, reporter Andrew Siciliano asked Kelce about his love life, and the athlete avoided the question.
"I said what I said," Kelce told responded. "And I meant what I said when I said it."
When asked again about the romance, he continue to evade the topic by playfully putting an end to the interview.
"You know, what? It is what it is," he said. "I'm not going to talk about my personal life. I know what you writers want to hear. And you want to hear more about that, and I'm not going to give you anything."
"And that's going to wrap it up here at NFL training camp," he added.
Kelce has been tight-lipped about his new potential love interest, and his brother has been as well. The topic even made its way into an interview with Jason after the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday (9/14). During the conversation, Jason said he "cannot comment" on his brother's love life.
"Ever since 'Catching Kelce,' everybody has been infatuated with Travis' love life," Jason said. "I don't really know what's going on there. I know Trav is having fun."

Although neither Kelce nor Swift have given clues that they are in a romantic relationship, it hasn't stopped fans and the media from having fun with the theory. Sports commentators have inserted Swift-related puns into coverage about Kelce's athletic performance. Watch here and here. Some TikTokers have even gone so far as to come up with far-fetched theories about Swift dating Kelce in order to rig the Super Bowl for the Eagles, a team she roots for.
In reality, fans may never know the truth about a relationship between Kelce and Swift.
