As unchecked wildfire sweeps across California, many residents, including James Woods, are being forced from their homes. Wood has been keeping a running, and up-to-date, account of the devastation.
The fire, currently ripping through the Palisades, fueled by winds, has forced around 30,000 people from their homes. The wildfire has driven James Woods from his home, an actor known for Hercules, and Casino.
Via his X account, he has been keeping people up to date with his own experience and those around him. The devastation that has been left is shocking, but it appears that communities and emergency services are pulling together.
As the wildfire crept closer and closer to his home, James Wood posted more pictures and videos. Of course, he was reluctant to leave the comfort of his home. But, eventually, the flames were licking at the corners of his house, and he was forced to flee.
James Woods Warmed By Communities Wildfire Response
As the wildfire continued to eat through homes, including those on Woods's street, displaced people began to flood community centers and rescue areas. Thousands of people have had to leave their homes, praying their lives will not be left as a burning pile of rubble when they return.
People are pulling together after their ordeal, and the heartfelt actions of fellow victims is shining through. "Sara's eight-year-old niece offered her Yeti piggy bank to help us. Some things will make a grown man cry," he said on his X profile.
James Woods will hopefully be able to financially recover from the wildfire. But, he is aware that many others may not be so lucky. Not everyone has home insurance, and many local insurance companies canceled their policies recently. It is possible people could be left with nothing, homeless and destitute.
James Woods looks back at what it is that he counts as valuable while he sits, waiting for the news on his home. "There is no possession as priceless as friends and good neighbors during a tragedy. I can't believe the blessings we enjoy, and I am humbly grateful."
How long these fires will continue to sweep across LA is anyone's guess.
