Jackson Dean Moves Full-Speed Ahead With His Career, Says He Will Sleep When He's Dead

Jackson Dean is moving full-speed ahead with his career. The singer-songwriter released his debut Greenbroke album in 2022. In the years since then, Dean has worked hard, perhaps harder than anyone else, to make his dreams come to fruition.

"I can't tell you the last time I was in one place for more than 72 hours," Dean says. "I couldn't tell you. So, most definitely I'm still running and gunning and going everywhere that I possibly can. I don't ever want that to stop. And I think that is the case for me because of actually my dad."

Dean reveals that his father could have retired a while ago, but chooses to continue to work, mostly for his health.

"He's been scared to death to retire for a long time now," Dean shares. "We've seen too many times guys that retire, and then a year and a half, two years later you see them again, and they're walking with a cane. And then another year later they have a walker, and then a year after that they're dead. I understand that as a human, you stop moving, you die. You gotta keep moving ... You can sleep when you're dead."

"Don't Come Lookin'"

Jackson was a hitmaker from the beginning, with the release of his debut single, "Don't Come Lookin'." The song earned him critical acclaim, legions of fans, and a new fan in Kelly Clarkson. Clarkson covered the song as part of her Kellyoke segment on her own The Kelly Clarkson Show.

"They didn't tell anybody. I had no idea," Dean tells Wide Open Country. "I was on a big travel day, as usual, and I had a layover somewhere and I was headed back to Nashville and I was getting in at like 7. Before I take off [my manager] texts me and he goes 'Oh, Kelly Clarkson played ['Don't Come Lookin']. And I was like, what? And then no service...We land... sit down, pour a drink, and we go 'oh sh*t!' We pull [the video] up and my God, they killed it."

"Don't Come Lookin'," inspired by his mother, was also featured in Yellowstone.
