Preserve Your Jack-o-Lantern for Weeks with WD-40

October is finally here, which means we can fully indulge in our favorite fall festivities. For those little ghouls and goblins, there aren't many activities more fun than carving pumpkins. The only downside to creating these spooky looking creations is how quickly they begin to rot and disintegrate. But fear not!

If you want to start getting into the Halloween spirit early, or just want to preserve your pumpkins for as long as possible, all you need is one common household item: WD-40. The lubricant can be used for several tasks around the house, but did you also know that it's the perfect way to keep your pumpkin in good condition?

All you need to do is cover the exterior of your pumpkin with a layer of spray after you've finished carving. Wait at least 24 hours to allow the spray to dry completely before placing a candle inside the pumpkin. Yes, it's really that easy!

Another bonus of using WD-40 is that the sprayed layer will prevent insects and other unfriendly creepy crawlers from swarming around the inside of your jack-o-lantern. Once the spray has cured, you'll have a pumpkin that will look spooky (in a good way) for weeks on end.
