If someone offered you $300 to visit the U.S. Virgin Islands, would you take them up on their offer?
The Caribbean island nation is prepared to do just that in order to celebrate its upcoming Centennial celebration. It almost seems too good to be true, but it isn't! According to the USVI tourism board, visitors who book a trip to the island nation will receive a $300 voucher.
At any rate, there is a catch to the promotion. 2017 marks the transfer of St. John, St. Croix, and St. Thomas from Dutch to American commonwealth status, so the voucher is good for mostly historical island exploration. Despite such a fact, the voucher is as good as cash for nature tours, kayaking, food-tours, and museums. Furthermore, the $300 VI "credits" can go toward full retail price of any of these activities.
So, if the idea of eco-touring the U.S. Virgin Islands and learning a little bit about its history appeals to you, here's how you get your $300. Just go to the U.S. Virgin Islands tourism site and book at least three nights on the island.
