Is ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’ Ending After Season 7? Here’s What We Know

The rumor mill is hard at work these days, especially when it comes to 'The Kelly Clarkson Show'. Will the talk show return for Season 8?

Right now, The Kelly Clarkson Show is in the middle of its seventh season, which follows Clarkson's return to the spotlight after the death of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock. The show has achieved significant success so far, winning 22 Daytime Emmy Awards in just its first six seasons. Its debut in 2019 also had the highest ratings for a talk show that we've seen in a long time.

So, why are there rumors that the show is ending after season 7?

According to PageSix, Kelly Clarkson is "calling it quits" after this season of the show, with insiders claiming that it just isn't "sustainable" anymore. However, another insider told the outlet that people are being too hasty. "Nothing is definite yet, and it's still a long season," they shared.

Currently, Kelly Clarkson is under a contract that ends after the show's seventh season. Since 2019, the show has been under consistent two-year contracts, with the most recent one being just a year shorter. This has caused much speculation amongst fans whether the show will end before a season 8.

However, even though the rumor mill is hard at work, a rep from the show tells Entertainment Weekly that's really all this talk is: just rumors. Also explaining that NBC would "advise directly" if there was an update from the show, they shared, "We are not even halfway through season 7!"

It Was Brandon Who Convinced Kelly To Do 'The Kelly Clarkson Show'

This past year, Clarkson took time off from filming to focus on family when her ex-husband, and father of her kids, Blackstock, was on his deathbed. Blackstock passed away after a long battle with melanoma on August 7, 2025.

In an interview with People in 2019, Clarkson revealed that at first, she was pretty hesitant to have a talk show of her own. It was actually Brandon, at the time, who convinced her to do it. "What's funny about Brandon and I is we have, well, the same temper, the same amount of like, 'OK cool I was wrong. That was me,'" she shared. Now, Clarkson describes the show as "a dream she never knew she had."

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, she spoke about how The Kelly Clarkson Show has lifted her up. "I've talked to the people that have been hit hardest in all of this — financially, emotionally, mentally," she said. "It's really the everyday people on this show that have just lifted my spirits when I've been feeling like, 'Oh my God, nothing else could possibly go wrong at this point, like, send in the locust.'"

For now, I'm choosing to assume that Clarkson has no plans of cancelling The Kelly Clarkson Show. At least, until we hear it from her.
