Is Florida Georgia Line Getting Back Together? Fans Think So After Seeing This Brian Kelley Post

Could the popular country duo be making a return to the stage? Well, we don't know for sure, but they're definitely speaking again.

Back in 2022, Florida Georgia Line, aka Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard, chose to go their separate ways. Fans might know the duo for their work on songs like "Cruise", "Meant To Be", and "Up Down", among others. Together, Hubbard and Kelley sold over 4.6 million albums worldwide, making them one of the most successful duos in country music history.

Now, fans suspect that they might be getting back together, and here's why.

On January 3, Brian Kelley hopped on a popular trend where people highlight things that make them feel nostalgic. The Instagram video starts with a clip where Kelley explains that he "went on a hike with T-hub", or Tyler Hubbard. Then, it transitions to a clip of actor Jon Hamm dancing in a club. This is the clip that many people are using in their own takes on the trend. Over the clip of Hamm, Kelley plays old hits like Florida Georgia Line's "Cruise".

This sparked a lot of theorizing in the comments from fans, who wondered whether it means a return to FGL. Even Hardy, who collaborated on FGL songs like "Y'all Boys" and "Simple", had some questions for Kelley after watching the video.

"Do I need to start writing FGL songs again" the country music hitmaker inquired.

The Truth Behind the FGL Breakup

On August 31, 2022, Florida Georgia Line played what was supposed to be their last show as a duo at the Minnesota State Fair. On an episode of the Human School Podcast, Hubbard got honest about why they chose to end such a successful partnership.

Kelley had sent Hubbard a song over text that he'd thought would be a good fit for an artist like Kenny Chesney. Turns out, it also had him thinking about doing a solo career.

"I said, 'I feel like it'd be a great Kenny Chesney pitch. You ought to send it to Chesney and see if he'd bite on it,'" Hubbard remembers. "And he said, 'Well, I did actually send it to Chesney. And he passed on it, which I'm taking as a sign.' I said, 'Well, a sign for what?' And he said, 'That I should do it.'"

Ultimately, this led Kelley to pursue something solo, and Hubbard to follow him on Instagram. Now, Hubbard admits he didn't handle the initial breakup well and wants to rekindle things with his partner. For him, this doesn't mean new music necessarily, but rather, the chance to repair an old bond with someone who was his "old roommate" and "best man".

"It doesn't have to be what it was, and it doesn't have to equal FGL doing anything," he said. "But we need to repair... spend some time together face-to-face. Walk and talk and hang. Go fishing. Get a guitar out."

That doesn't necessarily mean new music, but it doesn't not either.
