Since the shooting, people have been obsessing over Luigi Mangione. He is still under investigation, and he has not been proven as the gunman responsible for the killing of the UnitedHealthcare CEO. However, prints on a bottle, and wrappers, found near the scene have matched his among other evidence.
People are obsessed over the stylish methods used in the murder. The three bullet casings found by the body had "deny", "defend" and "depose" written on the side of them. These are in reference to the three D's used by insurance companies to reject claims. A manifesto has also been found online, allegedly written by Luigi Mangione.
All this has combined to create quite the following. Far from being the villain, he has become the anti-hero of many disgruntled people. The internet is up in arms, with one user wondering when the biopic will be coming out. Many point out that actor Dave Franco shares an uncanny resemblance to Luigi. They're already fan-casting the actor for the role.
