The new movie Buddy arrived in movie theaters over the weekend. The film is about a fluffy orange unicorn who just wants his young friends to have fun.

But if you believe everything you read online, some parents reportedly took their children to see the indie flick. We have the details below.
"Buddy" Is Not a Family Film
Buddy made over $5 million last weekend, which isn't bad for a small film with dark subject matter. And yet, although an actual family-appropriate movie also came to theaters last Friday (Coyote vs. Acme), parents reportedly took their children to see a movie about a unicorn that threatens children.
To be fair, the titular character is the only thing on the poster. And while it looks ominous, we can see how some clueless parents might mistake it for kid-friendly. The R-rating is also nowhere to be found on the one-sheet.
So maybe it's not surprising that there have been reports on Reddit and social media of parents demanding a refund after taking their kids to see Buddy.
"There were so many kids in my showing for buddy. What the heck is that about?" wrote one user on Reddit.
"Parents don't care they just can't or wont pay for a babysitter," added another Reddit user.
"I would say you're a bad parent if you didn't even so much as do a cursory check on what kind of movie you're exposing your child to," commented another.
This Star From a 1990s Children's Show Loved the Movie
Of course, with movie marketing being what it is nowadays, who knows if the stories are true. But if you watched the preview to Buddy, you may have noticed it bears a striking resemblance to another 1990s kids' show: Barney and Friends.
Dean Wendt, who voiced the purple dinosaur, shared his review of Buddy on Instagram yesterday, Sep. 1.
"I loved it. I thought it was hilarious," said Wendt. "I thought it was fun. There were so many things about it that reminded me of being back on set [of Barney]."
