The biggest house in Alabama might also be the most luxurious. At 54,000 square feet, every detail of the home looks like its straight from a storybook. This dreamy, palatial estate is currently listed for $9.9 million. The Shoal Creek estate features a whopping fifteen bedrooms and twenty-two bathrooms.
The home belongs to the former CEO of MedPartners, Larry House. He attempted to sell it for only $4 million in an auction last November, but that purchase fell through.
The home has now been re-listed with a steeper price tag, but the county assessed it at $12.1 million. That makes the current price a steal for someone who might be looking for a swanky home like this one.
Every corner of the estate is over-the-top elegance, the main hallway has interior balconies, an over-sized chandelier, floor-to-ceiling windows and a fireplace that looks out to the pool.
The home theater is even elegant. It seats twenty-five people and is decorated with gold and red accents.
And in case you need them, there are twelve fireplaces throughout the main house.
Several fresco paintings can be found on the walls and ceilings inside. They depict the story of Asclepius, the Greek god of medicine.
Inside the Versailles-style estate, there is also a 2,000 bottle wine cellar, personal gym and 'his' and 'hers' suites.
Outside, 1,800 square feet of cabana space surrounds the in-ground pool and hot tub. The architecture even matches the main house!
Elsewhere on the property is a guest house and a horse barn that also has living quarters.
The home isn't so upscale that it forgets to have fun, though. The driveway is shaped and landscaped to look like a guitar. This has led some people to refer to it as "the guitar mansion."
