Influencer's 22-Month-Old Dies After Mirror Falls On Him

Tragedy struck a parenting influencer's family as the 22-month-old son of Lindsay Dewey sadly died after a mirror fell on top of him. The toddler, Reed, died back in February while playing with the unsecured mirror while her mother was only 10 feet away from him.

According to Dewey's Instagram stories, Reed had been using a suction cup bowl and eventually stuck it to the mirror. Dewey wrote that Reed had been rocking the mirror back and forth multiple times. Eventually, the mirror tragically fell on top of him. Meanwhile, Dewey was just 10 feet away, cooking dinner.

"When it initially happened. I was so confused as to HOW it happened," Dewey wrote. "It has never ever been an issue even with all our wild kids who love to hit it and touch it. There is no way our kids are strong enough to move it, let alone pull it down on themselves."

After lifting the heavy mirror off of Reed, Dewey found the suction bowl stuck to the mirror. "But when I picked it up and leaned it back on the wall, I noticed his bowl was stuck to it. I figured out EXACTLY how it happened," she continued.

When he checked on Reed, Dewey noticed he wasn't crying. Feeling hopeful, she initially thought that nothing had happened to her 22-month-old. However, with his eyes open, Dewey noticed something was horribly wrong with Reed. The mirror had hit his head and fractured his skull, causing a severe traumatic head injury.

Reed was rushed to a local hospital and fell into a coma. Only days later, unfortunately, doctors told Lindsay and Eric Dewey that Reed was brain dead.

Influencer's Toddler Dies

Lindsay, who describes herself as a "protective mom" who child-locks pretty much everything in her house, later revealed that Reed changed the life of five other patients. He had donated his organs.

"The worst day of our lives became the best day of someone else's and for that I will forever be grateful for our little hero baby. You're someone's miracle, Reed Michael. 5 little kids miracle to be exact," Dewey wrote. "I don't think I'll ever be able to understand why our prayer wasn't answered, but God knows all things. Even though this is not fair on every single level, we're so proud of you baby."

Lindsay Dewey shared her story as a cautionary tale for other parents regarding the use of mirrors or other items that may be dangerous for their children. The news of Reed's passing was quickly shared online. Even a clothing store, Little Hunters Wife, produced a line called "Remembering Eric." All proceeds will go straight to Lindsay and Eric.
