The Brazilian influencer died days after undergoing breast lift surgery. According to the New York Post, her death is being investigated as a suicide.
Duda Alves Talked About Having a Breast-Lifting Procedure
Alves was known for her funny videos about her pet peeves and life with her boyfriend. But over the past several weeks, she had talked about her decision to undergo a mastopexy. The surgical procedure reshapes sagging breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue, lifting the breasts.
Earlier this month, Alves explained that her breasts were disproportionate to her height, causing her back pain.
"I ended up removing half of what I had. It was more of an aesthetic issue. I wanted to wear clothes without a bra. I wanted to have more freedom," she said.
Alves Received Comments From Male Followers Since the Procedure
Alves also shared that some of her male followers made several comments that upset her.
A friend of the influencer, Sarah Mahdavi, confirmed Alves' death last week. She asked for privacy while paying tribute to Duda on social media.
"Duda, besides being my best friend, was my family, my love, and everything more than I could ever imagine," she wrote. "I ask that you respect the grief we are feeling."
Clarissa Pavie, another close friend, admired Alves for her sense of humor and staying true to herself.
"She wasn't just light. She was calmness, authenticity with a touch of dry humor," she wrote.
Authorities confirmed that Alves died on Sunday, Sep. 13. Her death is being investigated as a possible suicide. A funeral was held at a church in Sao Paulo on Tuesday. During the service, her father thanked her fans for the love they showed his daughter.
He said, "She also had, in addition to the love of her parents, the love of her relatives, aunts, cousins, her beloved brother, [and] the love of her friends. And how important that is in our lives. Thank you."
