According to the Daily Mail, the liposuction surgery took place at the San Pablo Medical Clinic in Tuxtla Gutiérez, Chiapas. One day later, Dr. Orlando Gamboa administered an intravenous medication that had Reyes experience an adverse reaction, her uncle, Ammao Rodríguez said.
"She starts to feel sick and goes into cardiac arrest and at that moment they take her out of the room where she was in the (clinic)," Rodríguez told the outlet. He also stated that one of Reyes' friends was instructed to remain outside of the room Reyes was in. Doctors would only disclose information about the Reyes' "delicate condition" to family members, Rodríguez said.
Since San Pablo Medical Clinic did not have an intensive care unit, Denisse Reyes was transported to Manzur Hospital. Her condition, however, didn't improve. Denisse Reyes sadly died on Wednesday, January 29.
A Tragic Death
Rodriguez would say that Reyes didn't have a pre-existing condition. He is thinking about filing a lawsuit against Dr. Gamboa.
"May the authorities do justice to Denisse and may the doctor pay in some way for what he did," Rodríguez said. "It's not fair that she was already fine after her surgery and suddenly her health worsened to the point of death."
According to the Daily Mail, Dr. Gamboa was accused of causing the death of a woman in December 2024. The woman in question also died following a liposuction. He has since denied the claims, stating that he was not involved in the procedure.
Regardless of the possible legal action that Reyes' family could take, they have been left heartbroken over her untimely death. Her sister, Massiel Reyes, wrote a heartfelt post on
Facebook, remembering Denisse."You were a woman who always did what she wanted and went 1000% in her life. Too free, spontaneous, extroverted, that was you," Massiel wrote. "Sister, I love you with all my heart, what is happening hurts my soul, I would like to turn back time but it no longer exists."
