An Ohio man has admitted to slamming a 15-month-old's head against the ground numerous times in an attempt to stop her from crying.

A disturbing story has surfaced of a man who was impatient with an infant, which later led to her death. WHIO reported that the incident happened on December 5 when the man, Michael Mayor, was briefly left alone with the infant, Vivian Gardner, when the babysitter had to leave to take some of the children in her care to school.
The babysitter called police shortly after 3 pm after becoming concerned that the toddler was unresponsive, the outlet also reported.
The unnamed babysitter had left the infant in Mayor's custody numerous times throughout the day, and frequently checked up on the baby herself. However, the babysitter's concerns grew after noticing she hadn't woken up by 3 pm.
The infant was unresponsive when stirred, was pale, and had bruises on her head. Police records obtained by the outlet say that the babysitter as unsure where the infant could have got the bruises.
The child was flown to Dayton Children's Hospital for the apparent injuries. As Mayor, 34, was the last with the infant, he was arrested and charged.
Man Admits To Slamming Infant's Head Against the Ground
In gruesome detailing, Mayor described to police what he did to the infant when left alone with her.
He was attempting to get the infant to nap, although she wouldn't stop crying. Growing more frustrated, he shook her, although that only made things worse. That's when he "began to 'slam' her on the floor of the bedroom."
He also apparently told police that he "did this several times until she stopped crying." He also pointed out that "this was not done on the blankets."
Mayor claims to have believed the infant finally fell asleep, so he left her on the floor and walked away.
When at the hospital, doctors confirmed that the infant was suffering from a skull fracture at the back of her head. She had also received other "complex" injuries by the "massive impact."
The infant died on December 19.
The outlet obtained court records that show Mayor has been charged with felonious assault and endangering children prior to the toddler's death. He is being held at Miami County Jail on a bond of $1 million.
