The irony of the potential name of the tropical storm is that it comes the same day that country music icon Dolly Parton passed away (August 25). However, meteorologists note that the naming of the potential tropical storm is not related to the singer's passing. The forthcoming Atlantic storm was named nearly 30 years ago. Experts said the name and timing of the tropical storm being on the same day as the singer's passing are an "astounding coincidence"
A report from USA Today noted that meteorologists could officially name the tropical storm as soon as this Thursday (August 27). A source also told the outlet that there is no plan to skip the name of Dolly. If the wave is upgraded to a tropical storm. As of Wednesday, the chance of the tropical storm making landfall was at 70%.
Even though the name of the potential tropical storm was an obvious coincidence, it did not stop people from reacting on social media.
"Dolly deserves better than being a storm name. Honestly she's been through enough," one person wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
