Thomas Rhett Snags Big Honor at 2017 iHeartRadio Music Awards

By |

Country favorite Thomas Rhett walked away with the award for Country Artist of the Year at the 2017 iHeartRadio Music Awards.

The "Star of the Show" singer beat out fellow nominees Luke Bryan, Keith Urban, Jason Aldean and Carrie Underwood. Rhett was also the only country artist to perform at the ceremony, and paid homage to his single's quirky video. You can see a clip of his appearance below.

"Star of the Show" is a fan favorite that has frequented Rhett's set lists, but wasn't formally released until he dropped his 2015 sophomore album, Tangled Up. Any true Thomas Rhett fan already knows that the song is all about his wife, Lauren Atkins. Written just after their wedding in 2012, "Star of the Show" was the first tune he ever wrote in honor of Lauren. His other massive hit, "Die a Happy Man," was also penned for his wife.
