Francisco Reséndez, the Mexican voice actor and dubbing director best known for voicing Scooby-Doo, has died. He was 85.
Iconic 'Scooby-Doo' Voice Actor Dies at 85
Throughout his six-decade-spanning voice acting career, Reséndez played various roles and became a legend in the Spanish-speaking community.
Reséndez dubbed the mystery-solving canine Scooby-Doo, Commander Dot Pixis in Attack on Titan, and Mario in Donkey Kong. He also directed early Latin American Spanish dubs of The Simpsons.
During the 1980s, he voiced Scooby-Doo in several productions. His credits include episodes of The Scooby-Doo Show and The Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo Show. Reséndez also voiced the popular Great Dane in animated movies, including Scooby-Doo Meets the Boo Brothers, Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School, and Scooby-Doo and the Reluctant Werewolf.
His work helped introduce American and Japanese media to Spanish-speaking audiences, and he was affectionately known as "Don Paco."

Hundreds of fans took to social media to grieve the loss of Francisco Reséndez.
"He brought so much personality to those iconic roles. Truly a massive loss for the industry," an X user wrote.
"Can we f----king jump the Grim Reaper, like seriously?" a saddened fan joked.
"Another great one has fallen. Sadtember it is. RIP," another replied.
"RIP to a legend who made my mornings memorable and gave me my favorite cartoon show and character of all time," someone commented.
"He gave a lot of memories to people," another said of his legacy.
An X user pointed out the volume of celebrity deaths this year, stating, "Why are all the heroes dying??"
Reséndez is the second iconic voice actor to pass away this summer.
Peter Cullen, best known for playing Optimus Prime in the Transformers movies and Eeyore in Winnie the Pooh, died on Aug. 26 at his Los Angeles home at age 85.
"Peter Cullen passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family - and held in the hearts of his many friends and countless fans worldwide," his family said in a statement. "His family asks that you honor his remarkable legacy by serving your communities and leading others with compassion, integrity, and loyalty and always remember 'be strong enough to be gentle.'"
