Iconic Comedian Dick Capri, Who Worked With Frank Sinatra And Tom Jones, Has Died At 93

It's a sad day for fans of comedy. Iconic comedian Dick Capri has passed away at the age of 93. The comedian died in sleep on December 26.

The comedian got to spend one more evening with his family. He had a bleeding enlarged aorta. Capri knew his time was limited because it was inoperable due to his age. His son eff told TMZ that his father passed away peacefully.

"The world is not as funny today as it was yesterday," Jeff told the outlet. Capri got to spend one more Christmas with his partner as well as his son and daughter-in-law. Unfortunately, other family couldn't make it but video called him. Likewise, Capri got the chance to eat his favorite restaurant one more time before he passed.

Capri worked with icons such as Frank Sinatra and Tom Jones during his career. He started his comedy career by performing for the customers at his father's grocery store. From there, he developed into a full-blown impressionist.

Dick Capri Dies

He would go on to appear on Following appearances on shows like Talent ScoutsABC's NightlifeThe Ed Sullivan Show, and The Merv Griffin Show. He also performed for both Gerald Ford and George Bush when they were U.S. presidents.

Per the star's website, he "used his Italian heritage and his unique delivery to mix comedy and mime - setting him distinctly apart from the traditional stand-up comic."

"His unique style features a measured and deliberate delivery and his material is crisp and topical. This mix of comedy sets him distinctly apart from traditional stand-up comedians," the description added. 

Following his passing, several people took to social media to mourn his passing. One person wrote, "Remembering comedian Dick Capri (far left) who passed away yesterday at 93. A truly funny man and part of the "Catskills on Broadway" cast with Mal Z. Lawrence and Freddie Roman. This was taken after a performance in Sarasota a few years ago."

Another wrote, "Nobody told a joke like Dick Capri. Nobody. He is one of the handful of people who have ever lived who could actually make me laugh like a fool. You will never see his kind again. RIP Mr. Capri."

Yet another wrote, "Rest in peace Dick Capri, the last man standing in the most underrated generation of comedy."
