Winning an Oscar is up there as one of the greatest accolades you can get as an actor. There's nothing better... right?
Well, that definitely wasn't the case for iconic actress Nicole Kidman. She looks back on the night she won an Oscar in 2003 with bittersweetness. She'd won the statue for her performance as Virginia Woolf in The Hours.
She said of that night on Jake Shane's Therapuss podcast, per People, "I was beyond lonely. I had the pinnacle of my success, and I went home and was so lonely." If you weren't aware, she divorced Tom Cruise in 2001.
"So yeah, crazy, though, that sort of the confluence of events where you go, 'I wish...' I had my mom with me and my dad, but I was like, 'Where's my partner, someone that I can share this with?'".
The actress continued, "It was one of the most profound moments and I went, 'I've got to get a life' and at the same time, I'm holding this gold statue where you go, 'This is, this is it. This is the highest sort of prize you can get in our industry.' And [I felt] so grateful and yet so lonely."

The Divorce Hit the Oscar Winning Actress Hard
Of course, a divorce after eleven years of marriage hits hard. Per the Mirror, she previously opened up about her time with Cruise.
"I thought our time together was perfect," she recalled. "It took me a very long time to heal [after the divorce] - it was a shock to my system."
She continued by explaining how things were, in retrospect, pretty unhealthy. "We were in the bubble, just the two of us. We became very dependent on one another. I was reeling with Tom."
She added, "I would have gone to the ends of the earth for him... I was totally smitten - I fell madly, passionately in love." She said that she "was a child, really", when she'd gotten married to Cruise. Just like she said recently on the podcast, she said that she "needed to grow up".
What a heartbreaking night that must have been for her.
