"I Trust Jesus": Nashville Reporter Quits Job to Focus on Bible Studies

The Nashville reporter took to social media to announce her unexpected career change. "I just trust Jesus to open and close doors!", she wrote.

The more religious-minded of us sometimes find ourselves enamoured by the Bible. But most don't take the leap this Nashville reporter did (although I bet some would love to!).

As reported by the New York Post, Sophia Petrovich has made the jump from ABC-affiliated station WKRN. She revealed the unexpected career change in a post on social media on Sunday, June 28.

The reporter had been in the business for over 6 years, and with her station for about a year.

She Posted on Instagram About Her Reasons

"I have loved news for so many years," she wrote in her announcement on Instagram. "Getting to tell stories, be so ingrained in my community and work alongside some of the best in the business has filled my heart to the brim! Not to mention, getting to meet some of the coolest people ever."

Petrovich went on to explain just how much the Bible has had a positive affect on her life. "But over the last year, my heart has fallen in love with the Bible and all I want to do is study His word, and make sense of the radical love story that is the gospel."

"So although I'll always love news, the sole desire of my heart is to minister to people, share Jesus and study His word! I'm not sure what the future holds for me and my love for ministry, but not a lot of people in the Bible knew what they were being called to until they were there."

She finished with a resounding explanation. "I just trust Jesus to open and close doors! He is FAITHFUL! I can't wait for the journey ahead!"

The Reporter Received Praise from Colleagues

And it looks like her colleagues in the business wholeheartedly support her decision.

Fox News reporter Olivianna Calmes wrote, "No better reason to change careers! I'm in full support!", while radio star on 99.7 Atlanta Joe Breezy exclaimed, "Good for you being courageous enough to follow your path! Wishing you all the best!!"

She also received supportive comments from colleagues at WKRN itself. Katelyn Quisenberry wrote, "Miss you already... But so excited for you!!!"

We hope her new endeavour in Bible studies goes well for her!
