Ian Bohen Explains Delay in Joining 'Lioness' Cast

While this will be the third installment of the series, Bohen insists that he has been interested in joining the Lioness cast for quite some time. But scheduling conflicts prevented him from joining the cast. Lioness would film around the same time as Yellowstone.

He said that he had previously mentioned his interest to Lioness writer Taylor Sheridan. He told him how he would "love" to be featured on the hit show. To which Sheridan told the actor he would consider it.

The opportunity finally presented itself when Yellowstone aired its final episode in December 2024. And when Lioness began filming for Season 3 that following October, Bohen received the call that he had been waiting for.

"Yellowstone concluded gloriously, and then I had the opportunity to come and be with these guys. Yeah, it's great timing," he said as caught by PEOPLE.

Bohen also says that despite joining the rest of the cast in Season 3, the transition was essentially seamless. And that the other cast members welcomed him into the fold with open arms.

"I'm gonna say that I've never felt more welcomed by a cast, in all my career, than I have with these people," he added. "I had met them in passing here and there over the years as a, you know, 'Hi, nice to see you.' But when I finally got there, they treated me like I was brethren from the get-go. Just as warm as could be."

He also says that the cast has become like a "family" to him.

"So, I've never felt more at home than [I do now]," Bohen added. "And that doesn't happen a lot. In fact, oftentimes it can be the opposite. So this family is quite special to me."

Lioness follows a secretive CIA operations team that recruits female operatives to infiltrate high-level terrorist organizations by getting close to the targets' wives, daughters, or girlfriends. Season 3 premiered last Sunday, August 2.
