How This Pop Star is Helping a Paralyzed 6-Year-Old Girl Learn to Walk Again

The clinic is using the music of the pop star to help the 6-year-old motivate to walk again. And the best part? It's working a treat!

Everyone has that idol, whether it be a celebrity or otherwise, who just helps them get through the day. No matter if it's watching that character you like on a show after a hard day, or trudging through the rain with your favorite artist blasting in your earphones, they just... help.

And that's exactly the case for little 6 year old Rhea Chancellor. She is learning to walk again after being diagnosed with a rare neurological disease at just 3 years old. And it's all thanks to the help of her favorite pop star - Chappell Roan.

Per People, she was diagnosed after a nap turned into a harrowing situation. Once she had woke up, she found herself paralyzed from the neck down. She was later diagnosed with acute flaccid myelitis.

According to the Center for Disease Control, the disease affects the spinal cord's gray matter, "which causes the muscles and reflexes in the body to become weak".

Her mother, Wanda, was obviously keen to get her the best treatment possible, per InvestigateTV. "I started looking for anything and everything I could to get her to the best chance of recovery," she explained.

And then, she found a clinic in Louisville, Kentucky.

The Girl Took Part in a Study Involving the Pop Star

The clinic was taking part in a study in collaboration with the University of Louisville. The Kosair for Kids Center for Pediatric NeuroRecovery found one pretty unusual (and adorable) way to keep her motivated during sessions where she was struggling.

And it was none other than Chappell Roan's superstar hit "Pink Pony Club". That's right - the pop star is helping to get her to walk again!

"She's definitely fun to be around," Molly Brooks, a research manager for the center explains, "but you definitely have to match her energy." How adorable is that?

"[The pop star]'s music is obviously inspiring. It elicits this joy out of this child and this entire team," she added. "All the different songs we are singing, different games we are playing - we really have intent behind it : how will this help progress her recovery?"

We hope that her recovery keeps going well - and she'll be feeling "Hot To Go" soon!
