Maybe you are wondering how much Sheridan inserts himself into the everyday aspects of Marshals. We wondered, too. Per TV Insider, we know about at least one shakeup. According to the outlet, "It's the first Yellowstone spinoff that doesn't have Taylor Sheridan solely in the driver's seat as writer and creator."
What To Expect on 'Marshals'
Some actors are coming back from their Yellowstone roles. Among them are Mo Brings Plenty, Brecken Merrill, and Gil Birmingham. Going by the Marshals trailer, Kayce's wife, Monica, played by Kelsey Asbille, apparently already made her exit from the show. Kayce is now a U.S. Marshal in Montana with a challenging new career in front of him.
Who Did the Writing?
There is another new wrinkle. Per the outlet, "Sheridan did not write the new spinoff himself. He wrote every other Yellowstone show by himself."
The Extent of Sheridan's Involvement
In a panel discussion for the Television Critics Association on January 27, Spencer Hudnut, executive producer and showrunner, spoke on the extent of Taylor Sheridan's role.
He said, "Taylor's fingerprints are obviously all over this show. He created these great characters...He was very generous to me in terms of his time and helping shape this show. He's been incredibly gracious throughout. Whenever we hit a problem, [he'd] be there to help solve it. But you know, his influence is in every sort of aspect of this show."
Having said that, Hudnut affirmed, "I don't think I'd be sitting here if he had to be involved in a day-to-day way. That was never the setup. But he's certainly there for us when we need him."
'Marshals' Airs Beginning on Sunday, March 1
The premiere of Marshals is coming soon. The first episode airs on Sunday, March 1, on CBS. Mark your calendars for 8 p.m. Eastern, 7 p.m. Central Time. Fans of Yellowstone and Sheridan's current hit, Landman, will be eager to see the new Western drama.
