What is evident, however, is that Barker was greatly esteemed by those he worked for and with. His sudden, untimely loss is being deeply and sincerely felt. The show recognized that and paid tribute to him on its Tuesday, June 16, episode.
Host Ariana Madix Encouraged the Contestants To "Cherish Every Moment"
Madix honored James Barker with a few well-chosen words. She movingly said to the contestants, "None of us know how long we've got. For some that time can be cut way too short, so please cherish every moment."
There Was Also Another Tribute to Him on the Program
In addition, Love Island USA remembered James Barker another way as well. Snaps of him were displayed showing the exec producer in various settings having fun and enjoying himself. A title card said, "For James." At the conclusion, a second title card said, "We love you." It was all subtle, stately, and tasteful.
The Loss Was Devastating for Barker's Partner
Barker's longtime partner was Adam Roth. He was stunned by the death of someone he cared for so much. They had planned a future together. On Instagram, Roth expressed his feelings and his appreciation for Love Island USA's tender homage.
He wrote in part, "Tonight's episode of Love Island USA included the most heartfelt tribute to our beautiful James, who passed away suddenly on Friday. I'll have more to say later, but the song they used is 'Next To Me' by Rufus du Sol, which would have been our wedding song. Those of you who know the show might recognize the song from a previous season during which James texted me and said 'there's a musical postcard for you in tonight's episode.'"
Roth went on to sadly add, "If you know me you know I believe in signs, and if I know my James, he'll be sending musical postcards to me forever. I want to thank everyone at ITV for being so thoughtful and kind by capturing his spirit with this perfect tribute. You were his family and he loved you all deeply."
