Authorities Found A Suitcase Full of Human Bones

As reported by PEOPLE, a 30-year-old man was arrested by investigators with Hungary's National Bureau of Investigation. A

statement said he was booked on June 17 on suspicion of the illegal use of human remains.

Authorities received a tip that the suspect was storing human body parts at work and in his apartment. During a search of his residence, a prepared human face, facial skin, a suitcase full of bones, an entire lower leg, a brain, a hand, several skulls, and a heart being preserved in a jar were discovered.

Police asserted that all the remains recovered at the scene will be examined by forensic experts. Investigators are trying to determine if the heart in the jar is human or animal.

Police Say the Suspect Is "Passionate About Anatomy"

When investigators questioned the suspect, he allegedly admitted that he was "particularly attracted to human body parts." He added that he had used them to prepare and consume food.

Authorities also shared a photo of the man's apartment. The image shows the suspect's collection of animal skulls and spines. Police added that he is "passionate about anatomy and pathology, and likes to dissect animals."

The man was employed as a hospital orderly. Police believe that the perpetrator procured some of the remains at the hospital where he worked. He also allegedly exhumed bodies from abandoned cemeteries in Hungary and nearby Slovakia in secret.

The investigation remains ongoing, say police, and authorities have taken the suspect's electronic devices into their possession. More charges could be potentially added as forensic investigators determine the origin of the remains in the man's possession.
