Tom Savini has sadly lost his childhood home to a house fire. The Dawn Of The Dead actor is said to be "devastated" by the incident. Footage that has emerged online shows the home being engulfed in black smoke, with firefighters battling the blaze. The fire occurred on Saturday, August 15.

Fortunately, both Savini, and his wife Jodi, were able to escape their home unharmed. Fire services were reportedly able to take control of the blaze, ensuring that the entire home wasn't lost.
"Unfortunately, @THETomSavini home did catch fire today," a user posted on X. "Tom and his wife are safe. There was damage but luckily the amazing firefighters of Pittsburgh were able to put it out before everything was lost. Thank you to everyone who reached out with their concerns."
According to The New York Post, the home has deep roots within Savini's family, with multiple generations having resided there.
"The house has deep roots for the Pittsburgh native, who was born and raised there in the city's Italian Bloomfield neighborhood," The New York Post wrote. "The home has been in his family for generations, passed from his grandfather to his father and then to Savini."
Tom Savini Has 79 Acting Credits to His Name
Savini may not be a household name, but he's certainly someone many would recognize. The long-time actor has amassed 79 acting credits throughout his career.
His first role came in 1977, where he played Arthur in Martin. A year later, he appeared in Dawn Of The Dead, where he played a Motorcycle Raider. In the years that followed, Savini made consistently worked the horror genre, including roles in hits such as From Dusk Till Dawn, Wishmaster, Dawn Of The Dead (2004), Land Of The Dead, and Django Unchained.
Outside of his acting, Savini has also worked in the make-up department for multiple movies, and as part of a special effects team on others. He's known for his versatility within the movie industry. As such, we can undoubtedly expect an outpouring of suppport from those within the industry.
While Savini will undoubtedly be upset about the fire, he can at least take solace that nobody was harmed. It's unclear if he will look to rebuild the house.
