There has been a hopeful update in former college football star Stephen Garcia's cancer. In case you missed it, the ex-Gamecocks football star announced his diagnosis in May of this year.
The 38 year old took to social media at the time to announce his cancer diagnosis, as well as to post a fundraiser for his treatment, per the New York Post.
"Wasn't overly excited to share this news," he wrote at the time, "but it is what it is. We have a great team of doctors and staff that's confident we can beat this! It's the only option."
He continued, "If there's one lesson to be learned, get checked and don't be afraid to visit the doctors office when you don't feel 100%."
He began chemotherapy in early May, having six rounds of chemo and radiotherapy. The specific type of cancer he was diagnosed with was stage 4 colorectal cancer.

A day later, she made an announcement that he was cancer-free. "An update on Stephen," she wrote. "After 11 hours in the operating room on Tuesday, he is resting at TGH in post-operative recovery. He is in a lot of pain, which is expected, but he already sat up in a chair. He's a fighter."
The wife of the former college football star continued, "The surgical team confirmed that they achieved a complete resection, successfully removing the cancer and leaving him with No Evidence of Disease."
"While he will remain under routine surveillance moving forward, the focus right now is on rest and healing. We cannot thank his incredible surgical and medical team enough. They are the true heroes of this championship surgery."
She also posted a follow-up explaining that he was "managing significant pain... as his body processes the heavy toll of surgery" - he had described a "feeling like he got hit by a train".
