According to the New York Post, the incident took place on March 29, at around 2 a.m. Oltmanns himself revealed on a GoFundMe that he had stopped at a Waffle House to get some food after work. There, the homeless man, later identified as Quindarius Cartwright, approached him.

Oltmanns said that Cartwright appeared to be on drugs, but he still interacted with him. Cartwright first asked for some money. Oltmanns didn't have any cash at the time, so Cartwright asked for some food instead. Hearing the homeless man's request, Oltmanns decided to help him out.

"He told me he was just trying to get some food, you know, acting out of my good nature and just trying to be nice," Oltmannstold Fox 4. "I opened my car and was going to get him some food and literally the second I open my door to step out, he just starts stabbing me."

According to Oltmanns, Cartwright allegedly stabbed him "at least 10 times." He was able to defend himself, but the cuts sliced his face.

"Most of the stab wounds, like to the body, weren't really too bad," Oltmanns added. "It was just when he stabbed me in the face that it was like it was really bad."

Suspect Arrested And Victim Recovering

Following the alleged stabbing, Cartwright stole Oltmanns's vehicle. Meanwhile, Jackson Oltmanns, given the nature of the attack, thought he was going to die due to the amount of blood pouring out of his body.

"I walked in Waffle House, and they were freaking out," Oltmanns said. "I mean, I'm sure it's probably a traumatic thing for anyone to watch."

As per The Post, Quindarius Carthwright, the alleged 24-year-old attacker, was arrested by Forth Worth Police. The arrest took place at 2:51 a.m., less than an hour after the alleged attack took place. He was charged with aggravated robbery and is currently being held at the Lon Evans Corrections Center on a $150,000 bond.

In a GoFundMe update, Oltmanns thanked all the support he had received ever since he suffered the attack.

"You all are such an incredible blessing to me and your support and contributions to far beyond what words can express in gratitude," Oltmanns wrote. "With that being said truly from the bottom of my heart thank you."

Unfortunately, Oltmanns also revealed that there is a 50/50 chance of him never being able to move his right eyebrow and forehead area again. According to him, a nerve was severed during the attack. "I'm staying strong and beyond grateful that God has allowed me to continue my journey. I am in no way discouraged or upset," he added.
