"According to court records obtained by PEOPLE, Bryan was rearraigned on Feb. 23 and struck a plea deal with prosecutors after he pleaded guilty to the DUI charge," People reported. "He also admitted to an enhancement related to having two prior DUI convictions, per the records."
Unfortunately for Bryan, he still has another court date in his immediate future. He's due to appear in court in Lane County, Ore., on March 2 for a hearing regarding a probation violation. Bryan's sentencing followed a string of run-ins with the law in recent years.
In 2020, Bryan was charged with felony strangulation, fourth-degree assault and interfering with making a police report. That began a spiral that has led to his current situation. His latest arrest came in January 2025, when he allegedly "choked" his fiancée, Johnnie Faye Cartwright, and "punched her in the face."
Bryan's attorney has not released a statement regarding his latest sentence at this time. However, that could change in the coming days.
Zachery Ty Bryan Has Struggled To Build a Career Since 'Home Improvement'
Life hasn't gone according to plan for Zach Ty Bryan since leaving Home Improvement. The former child star previously spoke with People about the difficulties he's faced in transitioning into the movie industry after his time on the smash-hit sitcom.
"You were stigmatized as a TV star, and no matter how good your audition, you were never going to be taken seriously. But I kept at it," Bryan said. "On the same token, you might get turned down on a bunch of projects, but you could go out at night and hang out with your buddies at Mel's Diner and everybody knows you."
Unfortunately for Bryan, the last few years have undoubtedly made his chances of a move into Hollywood near impossible. His fans will now hope that a spell in jail can help him get his life back on track and put his legal issues behind him.
