High-Speed Chase Leads to Man Being Arrested in His Underwear

The career criminal, Zakary Dean Hirschfield, received a five-year prison sentence for the high-speed chase that took officers through multiple neighborhoods in Douglas County back on January 15.

Hirschfield had been pulled over during a routine traffic stop. During the stop, the career criminal fled the scene in his SUV. He nearly struck the Douglas County deputy who pulled him over when he sped off in the car.

After fleeing the scene, the fugitive led several Douglas County officers on a high-speed chase. During the chase, Hirschfield committed several reckless acts. The assailant merged into oncoming traffic, crossed over the median, and hit a speed of more than 100 miles per hour. According to a release from the Douglass County Sheriff's Office.

Officials Scold Hirschfield After Brazen Chase

Hirschfield was apprehended by authorities, a K9 team, and drones. The career criminal was eventually found hiding under a porch wearing nothing but his underwear.

"This defendant put countless lives at risk that evening,"

District Attorney George Brauchler also acknowledged Hirschfield's history as a repeat offender. He said he believed that he would be able to evade law enforcement.

"Some criminals seem to think the rules don't apply to them, and they can simply run from the law when they're caught," said Brauchler. "Hirschfield put a deputy, his own passenger, and countless innocent motorists in danger because he refused to stop. He now has five years to realize he picked the wrong county from which to run from the law."
