Hillary Scott of Lady Antebellum has opened up about the inspiration behind her new album, Love Remains, which is a series of hymns recorded with her family. Scott revealed on Good Morning America that she secretly went through a miscarriage last fall.
Her struggles with coping and healing are what inspired the music on her album. The first single, "Thy Will," was written while Scott was in the midst of dealing with the tragedy. "I was experiencing everything that comes with a miscarriage," she explains. "So it was my most raw place that I could have ever been when this song truly poured out of me."
Scott teared up during the interview, which marked the first time she's openly spoken about what happened. "This is something that is still not talked about very often," she says. "I also feel like there's this pressure that you're just supposed to be able to snap your fingers and continue to walk through life like it never happened."
After the life-changing experience, she says that she's a different mom to her two-year-old daughter Eisele Kaye now. "I hug her a lot tighter," Scott shares.
Love Remains is set to be released on July 29.
