Days after a school district warned students about going "too far" with pranks, a high school teacher has tragically died.
Jason Hughes, 40, of Gainesville, Georgia, died after a student ran him over. This came after the prank that the student and his four accomplices were trying to pull off went wrong, as reported by People.
The students were covering the trees on the teacher's property with toilet paper, an act known as "rolling". After the high school teacher came out to confront them, they all tried to flee the scene, taking different vehicles.
One such vehicle was a pickup truck that belonged to Jayden Ryan Wallace, 18. He ended up running Hughes over after Hughes tripped and fell in the road. Wallace and the other four accomplices tried to render medical aid to the high school teacher before emergency services arrived. He unfortunately later passed away at the hospital.
Police arrested Wallace at the scene of the crime, along with the four others. Wallace himself was charged with first-degree vehicular homicide and reckless driving. And all five were charged with criminal trespass and littering on private property.
