HGTV Star Explains Why She Walked Away from Show

The popular HGTV show No Demo Reno, hosted by Jenn Todryk, ran for only three seasons from 2021 through 2023.

On the show, Todryk and her clients worked together to "create beautiful renovations with no demolition required."

Although the show was a hit, making it was stressful for the host. She recently shared what the experience was like on Instagram Stories.

Todryk Said She Walked Away From Her HGTV Show "At the Perfect Time"

In a photo posted last month, Todryk showed a camera crew filming her on her HGTV show as she held up paint swatches. One of her daughters is on the floor, holding onto her legs.

"I do think I chose to walk away at the perfect time," she wrote. "I didn't want my kids to spend their childhood on a 'set,' I didn't want their home and safe space to feel like a set or be at home while I was away."

She then added, "I see pictures like this and think, what a cool part of my story and not wishing it was my only story and for that I am SO grateful!"

Todryk Shared More About Her "No Demo Reno" Experience on Her Podcast

Todryk discussed the challenges of producing No Demo Reno on the March 4 episode of her podcast, You, Me & Mike, with her husband Mike.

"No one understands until your entire character, integrity and image as a person is in the hands of someone else," Jenn said. "And a rough edit can literally destroy [you] nowadays."

Further compounding the pressure, Jenn had to work with different production teams each season on the show.

"You would have new people, like, the second season wasn't the same editing team," Mike said. "I think, you know, if you choose to keep going eventually, if you had the same consistency, it probably would have created a lot more trust."

Mike added that if No Demo Reno were to return, these conditions would have to change. Thankfully, Jenn told TV Insider that she has a great relationship with HGTV.

"But life is so busy right now, I'm just trying to survive with all the home life stuff now," she added. "But HGTV is great and I really have loved working with them."
