A lot has changed since the last time Hershey's came out with a new candy bar in 1995. The Red Sox won the World Series. Harry Potter entered and graduated from Hogwarts. Blockbuster video stores disappeared. Everyone got smartphones. Nearly 20 years after Hershey's released Cookies 'n Creme, the last new flavor from Hershey's to hit the market, the chocolatier has announced a new Hershey's creme bar: Hershey's Gold.

But there's something about Hershey's Gold, the new bar, that sets it apart from Hershey's bars of before. Unlike its cocoa-infused predecessors, Hershey's Gold bars are missing one major ingredient: chocolate. Instead, Hershey's is made with caramelized creme speckled with pretzel and peanut bits. Melinda Lewis, senior director and general manager at The Hershey Company, described the candy in a press release:
"We use a proprietary cooking process to transform the white creme into a golden bar by caramelizing the creme, which helps maintain a sweet, creamy taste."

The creme is complemented by salty pretzels and sweet peanuts, creating that irresistible combination of savory and sweet.
Past Hershey Bars
Hershey's Gold is the fourth bar the brand has created. If you need a refresher, here's a quick guide to Hershey's previous masterpieces.
- Hershey's Cookies 'n Creme (1995). The last bar from the candy kitchens of Hershey's, Cookies 'n Creme candy bars featured white chocolate dotted with crunchy chocolate cookie bits for a cookie layer crunch.
- Hershey's Special Dark (1939). This candy bar was similar to the Original, but made with dark chocolate instead of the classic milk chocolate.
- Hershey's Original. The company's signature bar is made from sweet milk chocolate made with fresh milk from local farms.
Where to Find Hershey's Gold
Tragically for candy lovers (read: everyone), Hershey's Gold won't be available in grocery stores until December 1. If you just can't wait, you can purchase the new candy now at Hershey's Chocolate World locations in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Hershey, Pennsylvania. For now, however, the original Hershey just might have to suffice until November ends.
Hershey's Gold will retail at around $0.99 for a standard size or around $1.69 for a king-size bar.
