Inclement Weather Causes Helicopter To Crash Into A Hospital
It is always a challenge to navigate in poor weather circumstances. Particularly, when navigating an aircraft. The video shows that the weather in southwest Turkey on the day of the crash was anything but pleasant. An eerie, thick fog hung in the air. Still, the helicopter decided to take off with its passengers. You can see as it slowly begins its ascent.
Unfortunately, that slow and steady ascent was the only successful part of the journey. Mere moments later the chopper would crash down, plunging into the side of a local hospital. The Sun shares that "The helicopter was taking off from the Mugla Training and Research Hospital." It had two pilots, a doctor, and a medical worker on board.
As the helicopter crashed into the side of hospital all four members onboard perished. Reports share that after the helicopter collided with the building, it fell to the ground and smashed on impact. Additionally, the hospital that it struck suffered serious damage as well. Several panels were ripped from the building and the wall that was impacted is completely smashed.
Luckily, despite the damage, no one in the hospital was harmed in the crash.
Turkey's President Speaks Out
Following the incident, Turkey's president spoke about the crash. He said, "I pray to God to have mercy on our deceased personnel and offer my condolences to their families, colleagues, and our entire healthcare community."
Something that makes this horrific crash even more harrowing is that it comes only two weeks after another tragic incident. Two weeks prior two helicopters collided during a "military training exercise in Isparta."
Similar to this incident, many lost their lives during that crash as well. The Sun reports that six soldiers died in that incident.
