Willie Nelson teams up with longtime friend Vince Gill for a heartfelt tribute to the late Ray Price with "Heartaches By the Number."
The opening track on Nelson's upcoming cover album, which features renditions of Price's biggest hits, is a true classic. The Harlan Howard tune was brought to the top of the charts by Price back in 1959. Since then, it's been covered by dozens of artists across a number of genres. However, Nelson knows just how to make the tune feel fresh with plenty of classic country western flare.
Accompanied by Gill and fellow members of the Time Jumpers, Nelson is seen having a ball during their recording sessions at Nashville's Ocean Way Studios. It's a fitting musical tribute to Price, who had a close relationship with Nelson before his death in 2013.
Nelson acted as a bassist in Price's backing band for a few years before starting off his own solo career. However, the two continued to collaborate with each other over the next few decades, including on 2007's Last of the Breed with Merle Haggard.
For The Good Times: A Tribute to Ray Price is due out on Sept. 16th.
