Nashville Songwriter Pens Inspiring Ballad for Joey Feek

Nashville songwriter Tyler Hayes has penned a new song inspired by Joey Feek‘s ongoing battle with terminal cancer.

“Joey’s Song” has earned over 287,000 views since he first shared it through social media earlier this month. Hayes says the heartbreaking, piano-driven ballad is meant to act “as a voice for those who know the time is coming soon when they are going to leave their family behind.”

“No words could ever appropriately describe what Joey Feek and her family are currently going through,” Hayes shared on his Facebook page.

“I know if I was standing in front of her right now I would be at a loss for words. I wrote this song in order to be a reminder that no matter what happens to Joey in the upcoming weeks, she will NEVER leave her family and those who care about her most. Even though her physical body may be gone, her presence will never leave. I hope this song has a chance to bring comfort and peace to her and her family.”

Hayes says that 100% of the proceeds raised from downloads of the song will go towards a charity of Joey’s choice.

“Joey’s Song” is available for download on iTunes.
