Hear Rosanne Cash's Haunting New Song 'She Remembers Everything'

Rosanne Cash will release her first album in nearly five years on Nov. 2. Today, you can hear the title track, "She Remembers Everything," a haunting, reflective song featuring Sam Phillips. The somber track is part of a collection of deeply personal songs that represent an intimate side of the legendary singer-songwriter.

"I didn't know her then, my enemy, my treasured friend/ Outside this waking dream, she remembers everything," Cash sings on the stirring track. "I don't know her now, my bitter pill, my broken vow/ This girl, this bird who sings/ she remembers everything."

In a statement, Cash said the album was inspired by the current era in her life and the feelings and experiences that go along with it.

"There is a woman's real life, complex experiences and layered understanding in these songs," Cash said in a statement. "I could not have written them 10 years ago—not even close. Time is shorter, I have more to say."

Along with "She Remembers Everything," Cash has released "Everyone But Me," a meditative tune that follows a woman as she takes stock of her life and realizes that much of her time on earth has been spent trying to make others happy.

She Remembers Everything is the follow-up to 2014's Grammy-winning The River and the Thread and features collaborations with Elvis Costello, Kris Kristofferson and more. The album is currently available for pre-order.

Cash recently received the "Spirit of Americana" Free Speech Award at the 2018 Americana Honors and Awards. Cash was given the award 16 years after her father, Johnny Cash, received the inaugural "Spirit of Americana" Free Speech Award.
