This Texas Train Ride Takes You on a Ghost Tour of the Bayou

It's a typical Halloween tradition to visit haunted houses and scary places during the month of October. This year, why not try something a little more out of the ordinary, like the Runaway Fright Train in Texas. We can promise it's a completely different experience from having people jump out at you like in a haunted house. With this runaway train you'll actually get to learn a thing or two about the areas haunted past.

The 40-minute train ride takes you through eerie areas in East Texas. Passing through the haunted Big Cypress Bayou, riders can see ghastly apparitions roaming the swamps while they learn about the history of the Jefferson Railway and the dark woods of the bayou. Riders will also learn of the many ghosts who are said to inhabit the area and how they got there.

This haunted train ride is a family-friendly event and the cool part is that the ticket prices also include admission to the Jefferson Halloween Festival. Festival activities include children's crafts, games and a movie. Other fun Halloween products are available for sale as well as concessions. So basically this trip is a one stop shop for all the Halloween fun your family could possibly want.

The train ride will begin at Historic Jefferson Railway, 400 E. Austin, Jefferson, Texas. Tickets can be purchased online or at the station during event hours. There are literally only two days left in the train's tour this year, so make sure you plan out your Halloween week and get to the station early to grab your tickets quickly. We promise that this train ride will be one of those holiday events you'll want to revisit with your family year after year.
