With beautiful writing and dripping with talent, "Prodigal Daughter" is Whitters' second new single of 2025. The "Everything She Ain't" singer teamed up again with Paul Sikes and Bryan Simpson, and they've hit it out the park once again.
This song is sure to get you tapping your feet to the stark visuals it paints. It's a song of faith, maturing, and being a little rebellious. The single also features ace bluegrass players. Bryan Sutton, Stuart Duncan, Justin Moses, and CMA Musician of the Year Charlie Worsham all play on the track.
You can listen to "Prodigal Daughter" below. It's also available on streaming platforms.
"Prodigal Daughter" Inspired By Billy Strings And Other New Bluegrass Faces
In a statement shared with WOC, Hailey Whitters goes over the inspirations for her new single.
"'Prodigal Daughter' represents a return to my roots, my faith and what's important to me," she said.
"Over the last few years, I've been listening to a lot of bluegrass music, and I've been so excited by the new faces propelling the genre - especially artists like Molly Tuttle and Billy Strings. Their music definitely inspired this one."
She was able to get her own inspirational icons to help with the track, which must have been a dream come true for the rising star.
Whitters has already released a single this year, and it's a heart-breaking one. "Casseroles" was released last month, and it's already hit over 500,000 streams on Spotify alone. It's a tearjerker, as one of our own will tell you.
She hasn't just been breaking hearts in recent months. Whitters also recently collaborated with Brooks & Dunn and even Max McNown. She even supported Alan Jackson on his final tour date of 2024 in Salt Lake City.
That wasn't the first time she worked with the legend, however, as she helped pen his 2017 track "The Older I Get."
"Prodigal Daughter" is definitely my favorite track of hers to date, I just find the lyrics so vivid and exciting. What do you think?
