Here in Texas, we take care of our own. It's quite possible that no company does that better than H-E-B. So it was no surprise to Texas residents when H-E-B rolled out their disaster relief convoy to aid the victims of Hurricane Harvey on the Texas Gulf Coast.
Brian Curtis of NBC5 DFW posted a video of the convoy to Facebook. Curtis passed the convoy as it was pulled over just outside of Goliad.
15 disaster relief units headed down to Victoria on Monday from the corporate H-E-B headquarters in San Antonio. On Wednesday, the convoy moved to Rockport and Aransas Pass. The units consist of specially outfitted trucks that house two mobile kitchens, a pharmacy and a business center. The kitchens are capable of producing 6,000 meals per day to feed first responders and victims.
In addition to food, there is a mobile pharmacy that will be able to fill prescriptions for displaced hurricane evacuees. The trucks also have a business center to help families access internet, make phone calls and pay bills.

The trucks also have showers and bunks for the H-E-B team members who will be providing support on the ground. "We have more than 100 volunteers who are going to be going with us and who may already be there providing some services," Julie, an associate with H-E-B, told KENS5. When the reporter pointed out the volunteers — H-E-B employees who are referred to as "partners" — who would be going to help, Julie added, "Our partners are amazing, our partners are Texans too, they live here, they work here and we're doing what we do best, and that's serving Texans whether that's selling groceries or helping in times of natural disaster."
H-E-B sends out these convoys whenever they're needed across the state. The grocery chain is a treasured part of Texas culture, and continuously makes generous contributions to enrich the lives of Texans.
