Guy Fieri is Cooking Thousands of Meals for Wildfire Victims

Celebrity chef Guy Fieri is doing his part to help his California community as wildfires sweep through the area. The Food Network star is busy cooking 5,000 meals a day for the victims and rescue workers.

Fieri told Refinery 29 that he's recruited both friends and his own team to help out as much possible.Along with providing meals, Fieri is working with the Salvation Army to help raise money for the victims. He now has a donation page to ensure food will keep coming in for those who need it.

"Over the past week, I've seen a level of destruction in my hometown that I never thought imaginable," Fieri wrote on the page. "But even bigger than the fires has been the outpouring of support and compassion for our community, here in Sonoma County and beyond. Together with The Salvation Army, and thanks to a virtual army of volunteers, we've been cookin' up hot meals for thousands of people who need it most every day. But this ordeal is far from over, and the need is only growing."

Fieri and his wife live just a few blocks from one of the hardest hit neighborhoods in the area. He and his family even evacuated their home in the middle of the night to escape the fires.

While firefighters are doing their best to get the blaze under control, a lot of the damage has already been done. The fires destroyed nearly 6,000 homes and businesses so far. At least 40 people, making these wildfires the deadliest in the history of California.
