Emergency Lockdown

Fort Eisenhower went into lockdown minutes before 9 a.m. during the shooting, according to the installation's social media. Approximately one hour later, Fort Eisenhower gave the "all-clear," and subsequently canceled all activities. This included an event in commemoration of the Army-Navy football game. The game took place that day at 3 p.m. at Landover, Maryland. At the same time, authorities began tracking and successfully arrested the suspect who was driving a Toyota Camry, according to WRDW.

"Fort Eisenhower is actively supporting the victim's family and assistance will be available to anyone impacted by this tragedy," reads an update issued by Fort Eisenhower, hours after the incident. "The safety of our residents and personnel remains our primary concern."

The U.S. Representative for Georgia, Rick Allen, issued a statement following the Saturday incident. "My office and I are seeking additional answers on today's tragic events that unfolded at Fort Eisenhower which led to heartbreaking loss of life," Allen said. "We will continue to monitor the situation and are praying for the victim's family and all those impacted"
