Postcards have classically been an inexpensive and easy way to share your travels with your loved ones while on vacation. However, the era of the postcard may be coming to a close. With social media and smartphones, people can immediately share as many pictures as they have the time and inclination to take and share with their friends.
To reminisce, here is a collection of historic postcards from each state in the United States, the popular and often recreated "greetings from" series. Made popular in the U.S. in the late 19th Century, some of these postcards actually pre-date the state's annexation by the U.S. (check out Alaska!). Many of these postcards are part of library collections now, but they once crisscrossed the nation via the postal service. Some readers may still have similar ones saved from long ago correspondences. So greetings from every state in the country!
