Granger Smith Releases T-Shirt to Honor His Late Son, River

Country singer Granger Smith and his wife Amber suffered through the unthinkable last Thursday (June 6) when their 3-year-old son, River Kelly Smith, died following a drowning incident at home.

Granger's clothing line, Yee Yee, just unveiled a new shirt that, per the item description, "has a Yee Yee Excavator on it (Riv's favorite thing to do was watch excavators scoop up dirt) and is red- Riv's favorite color."

When the family broke the news, they asked for donations to Dell Children's Medical Center in River's name in lieu of flowers or gifts. The t-shirt furthers that fundraising effort, with 100 percent of proceeds going to the Austin, Texas-based children's hospital.

The description explains the Smith family's passion for one specific cause: "(River) was cared for by the wonderful staff at Dell Childrens before he passed away."

Its design incorporates Yee Yee, the catchphrase of Granger's comedic alter-ego Earl Dibbles, Jr. It makes for suitable summertime outdoor wear for all ages, and it'd make for a pretty sweet ball cap patch—just saying. Shirt sizes range from x-small to xxx-large.

The shirt comes at a time when fans are trying to wrap their heads around tragedy.

"Following a tragic accident, and despite doctor's best efforts, (River) was unable to be revived," Smith wrote on June 6. "Amber and I made the decision to say our last goodbyes and donate his organs so that other children will be given a second chance at life. Our family is devastated and heartbroken, but we take solace in knowing he is with his Heavenly Father. Riv was special. Everyone that met him knew that immediately. The joy he brought to our lives cannot be expressed and his light will be forever in our hearts. If there are words to say more, I cannot find them in this moment. Love the ones close to you. There has never been a more difficult moment for us than this."
