Granger Smith gets personal in his "Happens Like That" video that premiered this past weekend on CMT's Hot 20 Countdown. The video hits close to home for Smith while featuring his wife and youngest son, River.
"Happens Like That" carries the viewer through a series of Smith's biggest life moments while in the middle of a cornfield. The journey starts at finding the one and continues through to proposing, marriage and having children.
Award-winning TK McKamy directs the video. His directing credits include Florida Georgia Line's "H.O.L.Y" as well as Thomas Rhett's "Die A Happy Man."

Though there are few changes in scenery, each one is dramatic. The overall tone carries a sense of mystery with flashes of lightning fast forwarding time. Smith says this video is his most daring yet.
"This has been the most extensive music video I've done, and we've done a lot of them," Smith says. "We shot the video in a massive cornfield and a silo and it gives the video this mysterious tone."
The best part of course for Smith was making it a family affair. "It was amazing to have my beautiful wife Amber and my son River on set. My three kids have now all made cameos in my videos."
"Happens Like That" is Smith's fastest rising single to date. It's the first from his new album coming this fall. The singer received also his first No. 1 in 2016 with "Backroad Song."
