Granger Smith fans, rejoice. The country singer just announced his new album When The Good Guys Win, slated for an Oct. 27 release. The singer also revealed the album artwork, a pair of work gloves filtered in black and white with gritty text.
The album features 14 tracks, including the customary Earl Dibbles Jr. song. This one is titled “Don’t Tread On Me” and was written by “Dibbles,” plus “Austin Outlaw” and “Chris Gainz,” whose real identities remain a bit of a mystery. But bonus points for the Garth Brooks Chris Gaines reference on the pen name.
Granger Smith co-wrote eight of the tracks on the album, including lead single “Happens Like That.” That tune just entered the Top 40 on the radio charts.
In a press release, Smith reveals most of the album was written — and even recorded — on the road. “In fact, we only spent three days in a real studio for an entire year’s worth of work,” Smith Says. “Instead, I set up a mobile studio in the back of my bus for all the writing, editing and even recording. I sang all of the lead vocals at home in Texas, and did a lot of file sharing back and forth with my co-producers. With the album evolving this way on the road, country fairs, parking lots, green rooms and hotel lobbies, it truly reflects the source of the inspiration: the fans.”
He goes on to explain that his diehard fans were a huge part of the record without even knowing it.
In addition to the album, Smith also announced a headlining tour starting Nov. 3 and ending Dec. 29. The 14-date trek includes stops throughout the Midwest, Florida and Texas. But that’s not the only time you can catch Smith. He’s also opening up for Luke Bryan between Sept. 14 and Oct. 28.
And as if that weren’t enough, he’s also got a brand new podcast out on iTunes. Reasonably titled the Granger Smith Podcast, the audio show hit No. 1 on the iTunes stores as soon as it went out. Fans can hear the first four episodes now.
