One Arizona grandfather is in danger of becoming an amputee after a recent scary fall.

72-year-old Grant Stiler took a spill on August 3. In the aftermath of the fall, Stiler lay on concrete that was 100 degrees for well over an hour. Following the fall, Stiler was suffering from organ shock and had heat stroke. As a result was left hospitalized in a Las Vegas burn center with second- and third-degree burns.
Arizona Grandfather Set to Become Amputee
Now the grandfather faces another uphill climb. This Monday (August 31), Stiler will undergo a procedure to have his right leg amputated above the knee.
Stiler's daughter, Heather Crook, says that watching her father suffer has been a tough pill to swallow. That is not the type of man she grew up watching.
"He's hurting really bad," his daughter told FOX 10. "He was gripping the arm rails, and his teeth were clenched, and his cheeks and jaw were trembling and shaking, and his hands were shaking on the arm rails of the chair. Because he was hurting so bad and looking in his eyes, he couldn't even talk to me."
Crook used the example of Stiler injuring himself while doing work around the house earlier this year. Her dad dropped an 80-pound cinderblock on his foot and didn't even want any painkillers.
"He's the 'get up and walk it off' type. He's an Idaho-born-and-raised farm boy. So for him to holler out in pain... it's really hard to hear," Crook said. "That's not the kind of person that he is. He doesn't ever want anyone to fuss over him."
Stiler's situation could have been much worse if it were not for the empathy shown by two residents who were walking by and happened to see him. According to Crook, they pulled out "sun visors" to shade him from the sun and poured water on him to cool his body down after baking in the triple-digit temperatures for more than an hour.
Crook also says that the situation has made her and her family more intentional about taking precautionary measures to make sure that it doesn't happen again.
