A Texas grandmother, Lisa Campbell-Goins, 56, was arrested for allegedly poisoning her seven-year-old granddaughter through her feeding tube and medical child abuse. According to court documents, it is suspected that, among many other things, Campbell-Goins allegedly poisoned her granddaughter with nail polish and bottles of Mean Green Degreaser.

Campbell-Goins, who took care of the girl since she was just an infant, according to the Daily Mail, claimed that the girl fell ill when she was seven months old. Supposedly, the girl fell and hit her head, causing dystonia. This disorder causes the muscles to contract, according to Mayo Clinic. However, this was a fabrication made up by Campbell-Goins, as the girl only suffered minor injuries. This, however, was one of the many lies allegedly told by the grandmother.
What followed from 2021 to 2023 was a series of hospitalizations where Campbell-Goins claimed that the girl suffered from many health issues. When visiting Cook Children's Medical Center in August 2023, doctors found that the girl suffered from ulcers in her GI tract. She also had damage to her colon and lower intestine. They ended up giving the girl a gastric tube to administer medicine. Campbell-Goins insisted doctors should also use the tube to feed her.
Sudden Improvement
Doctors did not see any improvements, which resulted in the girl being hospitalized for months. By January 2024, one of the girl's family members came forward and expressed concerns. They suspected Campbell-Goins was poisoning the seven-year-old. According to Big Country Homepage, the family member found a nail polis remover near the girl before her hospitalization.
Other family members witnessed Campbell-Goins administering Benadryl and Melatonin through the girl's feeding tube. Eventually, law enforcement became involved and determined that Campbell-Goins did not have legal custody of the child and removed her from the hospital.
Once Lisa Campbell-Goins left the hospital, doctors began seeing significant improvements. The child stopped showing behavior issues, was able to move again, and even began eating and drinking by mouth. Her GI issues stopped, and her gastrostomy was closed.
Court documents, however, showed that the child had received a myriad of medications. She was given medications such as Gabapentin, Haloperidol, Zonisamide, and Clonzapam, among others. Other psychiatric medications such as Seroquel and Zypreza were also found.
Fabricated Illness And Fraud
Doctors were dumbfounded by the girl's improvement. One of them said that "he could count on one hand the times he has seen a child as sick as the victim get better with the only thing done by medical professionals is ending interventions and decreasing care." Detectives, however, were immediately suspicious of Campbell-Goins.
Through investigations and, according to court documents, state doctors determined that the child was potentially the "unfortunate victim of medical child abuse," and that her illness was fabricated. Doctors explained that her symptoms could be caused by alkaline poisoning. They found bottles of degreaser and nail polish remover in the child's hospital room.
Campbell-Goins allegedly also punished her granddaughter by leaving her in a posey bed, something she insisted doctors help her with. The investigation also found that Campbell-Goins allegedly received $600,000 from Medicaid fraud, also receiving donations from GoFundMe donors.
Police arrested Lisa Campbell-Goins on December 31, 2024. They charged her with exploitation of a child, injury to a child, and unlawful restraint, according to FOX 4. She is being held at Tarrant County Jail and her bail was set at $150,000.
