The "High Cost of Living" singer turns 51 on July 14. To celebrate, the Opry will host a party honoring Johnson with Bill Anderson, ERNEST, Randy Houser, Tracy Lawrence, Ruby Leigh, Lilly Meola, and Andy Whatley & Co.

Jamey Johnson and the Grand Ole Opry Have a Long History Together

It was Anderson who invited Johnson to join the Opry in 2022. He became a member later that year.

"I love country music," Johnson said when Anderson invited him. "I would have never moved here if it wasn't for that; for the Opry keeping it alive and for the fans."

But before Johnson became a star, he wrote hits for some of country music's biggest artists. George Strait's "Give It Away" was penned by Johnson, as well as Trace Adkins' "Ladies Love Country Boys" and Joe Nichols' "Another Side of You." Johnson even co-wrote the hit "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk" with Houser.

"I write music I'm inspired to write," says Johnson. "I'm always trying to find words that have meaning to me. The inspiration can reveal itself in different ways. But it seldom ever reveals itself through a 'process.'"

Johnson Recently Celebrated His One Year Wedding Anniversary

Last month, Johnson celebrated one year of marriage to Brittany Eakins. They were married at Graystone Quarry in Franklin, Tennessee, on May 20, 2025.

It was reported that 350 guests attended the couple's nuptials last year. Kid Rock, Lukas Nelson, Zac Brown, Ella Langley, Colt Ford, and Randy Travis were among those in attendance.

"The best thing about our wedding by far has been bringing together so many people that we love and putting them all in one place," the couple said. "It's been so special to watch all of our friends from different places and phases of our lives become friends."

Johnson's tribute show is part of a months-long celebration of the Opry's 100th birthday. In addition to tribute shows and other events, there will be backstage tours and a free Outdoor Concert Series throughout the summer.
